On the death of two TV journalists
Murdoch's The Austrlian carries the stories of the deaths of two TV journos, one in Tasmania and one in Iraq.
In Tasmania, Richard Carleton, a long time "hard hitting" journo fell over dead whilst covering the Beaconsfield mine story. He was a major Australian figure and his story featured prominently on the front page.
Still on the front page, but in a smaller, lower position, it was reported that Atwar Bahjat, one of Iraq's top TV journos, collapsed dead with her murderer's hand covering her mouth, his knife slitting her throat, while a comrade stomped on her gut. And then they sever her head and put it on her bare chest for a photo session, the whole event filmed already.

Oh,honored journalists, without you we would be lost in the commercial presentations of most of today's newspapers. You earned much more than you were paid; but you didn't do that job just for money, did you? You are (were) today's true Saints.
My sympathies to their survivors, including us their devoted readers.
