Horse slaughter foes make voices heard in Washington

Horse lovers rallied Tuesday to pressure Congress to ban the horse meat industry and close down plants in Kaufman and Fort Worth.

But as the emotional issue heads to a House vote Thursday, ban supporters found themselves fending off criticism that Congress - just back from a monthlong vacation and with just a month to go before the next lengthy break - should be tending to higher priorities such as Iraq, border security and gas prices.
