Broadband over power pole Tassie trial
Those broadbandicoots down in Tasmania are going to be the first in Australia to trial getting their internet through their electrical mains lines. Either this is such a dumb idea that they had to hatch in on the Tassies and bury the short story in the middle of the SMH, or it is such a brilliant idea that is so shocking to the telecoms folks that they had to hide the trial on our South Island and hope Telstra folk are too busy to scour the SMH for the story. Either way, it was easy to pass over the story, but if the trial is successful, it will completely change the equations of the cable/telecoms industry. And it will help all our southern cousins become thoroughly modem Millies. http://www.smh.com.au/news/technology/plug-in-and-play-net-trial/2005/09/13/1126377318847.html
