2 Down 1 To Go ??

What do NY, NO and SF have in common? Well, in early 2001 (before 9/11), the US Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a report saying those 3 cities were the three likeliest, most castastrophic locations for disasters facing the country. It said NY was most likely in danger of a terrorist attack, NO in danger of a devastating hurricane and SF in danger of a major earthquake. See this article from the December 1, 2001 Houston Chronicle: http://www.hurricane.lsu.edu/_in_the_news/houston.htm The article says, "The New Orleans hurricane scenario may be the deadliest of all."

The graphic I've chosen to go with this post is "borrowed" from another blog entitled "My prescient dream": http://www.pindeldyboz.com/scdream.htm

Now I don't mean to pick on Bush alone. This was just the most relevant choice among the pix that came up on a Google images "prescient" search. There is plenty blame to go around, and around and around, e.g. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chi-0509010009sep01,1,6491327.story?ctrack=1&cset=true. And blame won't fix the situation. First we got to fix the situation. Then we settle the score.

At this point, no point in pointing fingers I suppose. But, as I read some of your thoughts, there's a lot of truth in them. You mentioned in the prior post that your Mom emailed you from Arkansas. I no longer live there - went where the job was - but my family does, and my brother just got called to duty in the Air National Guard and was deployed to the New Orleans area. The former president put a lot of effort into trying to fix some of these problems, and a lot of those efforts were repealed under the current administration. Guess we've got that war to finance, but darn it... the budgets that might have shored up those levies the last couple of years were cut... to spend elsewhere. Wonder how much it'll cost to clean up now as opposed to 'fixing' the problems a year or two ago... and that's just thinking of dollars and cents - there's no "fixing" that'll bring back the lives lost.
